Political representation

As a global group with European roots, DEKRA has a major interest in knowledge-based regulation at international and European level. For instance, we bring expertise to the table regarding the internal market of the EU or the achievement of climate objectives.

Therefore, the Group representation in Brussels has advocated for DEKRA’s international and European interests since 1991. On the one hand, the representation is entrusted with the advocacy of international interests. On the other hand, it represents the interests of our Group towards the institutions of the European Union. As 80% of business-related policy decisions in Europe are made in Brussels, the representation plays a pivotal role.

Based on position papers, expert discussions and events, we create a constructive framework for targeted exchange between the representatives of our Group and various societal, business and policy stakeholders.

Dialog with Decision Makers

DEKRA is one of the world’s leading testing service providers and expert organizations for ensuring safety, quality, and environmental protection. With approximately 46,000 employees in over 60 countries, we support our customers in the automotive and industrial sectors. As a reliable partner with a variety of services from general vehicle inspections to testing of medical devices and power plants to training professional drivers, DEKRA offers a wide range of independent expertise. Our group’s representative office in Berlin acts as an interface between the company and government institutions in Germany. We ensure that DEKRA remains in constant and close contact with policy-makers, serving as a constructive partner to legislators.

Lobbying and Political Advocacy

As political issues and processes are becoming more and more complex, politicians and ministries are increasingly forced to rely on outside information and advice. Due to this ongoing development the exchange of information between businesses, associations, legislative and administrative bodies is a necessary part of pluralist democracies.

In this context, DEKRA’s extensive and independent expertise as a global corporation makes us a sought-after partner for decision makers, organizations, and authorities on both the national and regional level. DEKRA provides them with expert knowledge and political analyses in order to support and encourage sustainable political decisions.

Delivering Solutions to Political Issues

Our aim is to be a stakeholder in political and economic matters from early stages on. In DEKRA’s representative office in Berlin, we coordinate our political activities while observing and analyzing legislative and regulatory developments. We continue to hold regular discussions with other political interest groups, associations and social organizations. By teaming up with other relevant stakeholders, we aim to making key contributions for balanced and effective political decisions. We also prepare briefing materials to our colleagues at DEKRA - from departmental level to the Management Board.

Our involvement in political processes is not simply limited to formulating and evaluating positions as part of various legislative processes. Instead, it extends to also organizing expert symposiums and meetings that address important safety-related issues in order to enhance the safety on the road, at work and at home.
